Yarubi Díaz Colmenares
Yarubi Díaz is a PhD candidate in French Studies-Linguistics at Western University, Canada. She obtained a Master’s degree in Hispanic Linguistics and a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages in her home country, Venezuela, both including translation studying and training. She was a faculty member of the French Department of the University of Los Andes from 2010-2023, where she taught French courses (FSL/FLE) and occasionally translation and Francophone literature. Passionate about gender linguistic representations, she dedicated her master’s dissertation to the analysis of press speech regarding teenage motherhood, and her doctoral research is focused on the variation of inclusive language among French and Spanish speakers. As a lead research assistant in the Surviving Memory team, Díaz Colmenares coordinates the transcription and translation team, ensuring that every voice is heard and preserved as linguistic patrimony for the Salvadoran communities.
