Steven Schenk

Steven Schenk studied architecture in Antwerp (Belgium) and Mendrisio (Switzerland). After working as an architect at Miller & Maranta in Basel, Switzerland, he was a teaching assistant for the chair of Christ Gantenbein at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich). In 2014, he founded the office Schenk Hattori, based in Antwerp (Belgium) and Tokyo (Japan). He currently teaches at the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven) Faculty of Architecture in Gent and Brussels, Belgium. His PhD, supervised by Harold Fallon and co-supervised by Caroline Voet, explores the role of perception and imagination in the production of an architecture that surpasses cultural boundaries. Along with Johannes Berry, he participated in design proposals for the commemoration site of El Higueral, Gualsinga, Laguna Seca/Laguna San Ramón, and the Museo de Memoria Histórica [Historical Memory Museum]  in Las Vueltas, El Salvador. He will complete his PhD in 2026.
