María De Lourdes Calero Santos

Lourdes Calero is a ceramist and professor. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts (Ceramics) from the University of El Salvador (UES). Calero has also completed the UES’s “Curso de Formación Pedagógica para Profesionales” [Pedagogical Training Course for Professionals]. Additionally, she has completed courses on "Redacción con énfasis en artículos científicos” [Writing with Emphasis on Scientific Articles] from the Central American University José Simeón Cañas (UCA), "Investigación en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales” [Humanities and Social Sciences Research] at the Graduate School of the Faculty of Sciences and Humanities at the University of El Salvador, and "Tecnología y Ciencia Cerámica” [Technology and Ceramic Science] accredited by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. She currently serves as the coordinator and professor at the Visual Arts, Ceramic Option program at the School of Arts of the Faculty of Science and Humanities, University of El Salvador. Calero devotes her time to research, ceramic artistic expression, and consulting projects aimed at technical training in ceramic artisan communities in El Salvador. As a member of the Surviving Memory team, she oversaw the creation of ceramic tiles with the names of victims for the Río Sumpul Massacre Memorial installation.
