Jesús Chavarría

Jesús Chavarría is the director of the RoAD Lab and an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Western University. He received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Florida State University, completed his pre-doctoral internship/residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC), and postdoctoral fellowships at the UCMC and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. His research uses multiple methodologies to I) uncover risk factors and mechanisms associated with the development of substance-related consequences and substance use disorders and II) develop and disseminate treatment protocols to reduce/eliminate problematic substance use behaviors, with a focus on marginalized groups. As a member of the Surviving Memory team, he will support research on mental health, substance use, and access to care for civil war survivors in El Salvador.
