Ismael Antonio Sanchez Figueroa

Ismael Sánchez is a mechanical engineer with a degree from the José Simeón Cañas Central American University (UCA). Sánchez also holds a Master’s degree in Energy Resources from the University of Pittsburgh, where he attended as a Fulbright Scholar. He was the founder and professor of the Department of Energy Sciences of the José Simeón Cañas Central American University (UCA). He has published and directed research on energy policy, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change. As a senior advisor (2003-2014) for the Alianza de Energía y Medio Ambiente con Centroamérica [Energy and Environment Alliance with Central America], Sánchez has also worked on initiatives of the Governments of Finland, Austria and the European Union, whose main objective was to promote the use of renewable energy in the region.
